While jumping from activity to activity, I kept asking myself with a grin on my face, "What IS this game?", in the best possible way.
You jump from mini-activity to mini-activity (I'll refrain from using the term "mini-game" in this context, as it's not really what they are) as you progress the story. I think the closest example that comes to mind and, forgive me as I haven't much experience with the series, but it kind of reminds me of what I've seen of WarioWare but with a cosmic noir story attached to it. The presentation really excels when it comes to style, story and music but, hey, it might not be for everyone, which is why Game Pass is a great tool for discovery otherwise I probably wouldn't have played it. In my opinion, it's a pretty cool/chill experience so far (finished Prologue and Seeding chapters)! It's "gameplay" it's rather basic and it doesn't really tell you what to do but you can figure things out due to the limited actions available to you in any given scenario ("adventure-lite", as I'm referring to it). Seriously, if you're open to it, do yourself a favour and put on some headphones, sit outside at night, bring your Switch or connect to xCloud and stream this under the stars (if you can, of course). It's not really a "game" game per se, as the actions you take are kind of simplistic and point/clicky ("adventure-lite", might be a good description), but I'm really happy these types of experiences are on Game Pass for us to discover. The art, music and subject matter really fuse to create something that is truly engaging and interesting. wow, it's one of the most unique experiences I've had with Game Pass. I played the prologue and one chapter last night and. I probably would never have tried it but gave it a chance because it hit the service.
Honestly, Genesis Noir is a perfect example of why Game Pass exists.
